Dear NeuroClub Members,

We are excited to invite you to NeuroClub 12: Can Stem Cells Repair Brain Injury?

What if cells collected at birth could help protect or repair the developing brain? Join us for an engaging and interactive evening exploring the potential of umbilical-cord-derived cells in the treatment of perinatal brain injury.

The session will take us from promising experimental findings to possible clinical applications, highlighting the latest scientific advances, the challenges of translating them into practice, and the questions that still need to be answered.

🎙 Keynote Speaker:

Dr. med. Mihaela-Madalina Fluri – Senior Physician, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Inselspital Bern

📅 When?

Wednesday, 30 September 2026, 18:30–20:00

📍 Where?

Room F113, Marie-Colinet-Haus, Effingerstrasse 102, Inselspital Bern

What’s on the program?

  • For decades, brain injury was considered largely irreversible. Today, researchers are asking a different question: Can the brain be helped to repair itself?

  • Dr. Mihaela-Madalina Fluri explores the potential of umbilical-cord-derived cells for treating perinatal brain injury and promoting neuroregeneration. From promising experimental findings to the challenges of translating them into clinical practice, the talk will explore what cell-based therapies could mean for lifelong neurological outcomes — and what questions still need to be answered.

  • As always, the session will be followed by a relaxed apéro 🍷🥜🍪
